Muesli Recipe:Starting a day with a bowl of muesli is healthy but worried about its sugar content and preservatives?. You can make muesli in your home.

One of the reasons we choose muesli as breakfast is because it is easy to make. But do you know that it is healthy and nutritious too. It helps in weight loss as it contains less calories and it is anti oxidant rich.



You have probably heard  about granola as weight loss food but muesli contains less sugar when homemade.All you need is oats ,different variety of nuts, seeds and dry fruits. Go for organic !

Homemade Muesli Recipe

Ingredients:

  1.  Oats-1.5 cup
  2.  almonds sliced-1/2 cup
  3. Organic raisins chopped-1/2 cup
  4. Walnuts chopped-1/ 2cup
  5.  Dried dates deseeded and chopped- 1/2 cup
  6.  sunflower seeds-1/3 cup
  7.  pumpkin seeds-1/3 cup
  8.  chia seeds-2-3 tsp
  9. Dried coconut flakes (optional)
  10. cashew nuts(optional)
  11. Peanuts (optional)
  12.  flax seeds-3-4 tsp
  13. 2 tsp cinnamon powder or you can use vanilla extract while serving

Procedure:

  1. In a large non- stick pan Toast the oats over medium heat until brown color combine the sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and the almonds and toast over medium flame, until the flax seeds stop popping. Remove and set aside to cool.
  2. Combine the oats, nut and seed mixture and all the above ingredients and mix well
  3. Allow it to cool and store in an air-tight container
  4. Serve it with milk and honey or curd.You can add fruits when serving to make it more nutritious.
  5. Muesli is nothing but cereals and dry fruits which you can eat with milk or yoghurt.it is one of the best food for weight loss.

You can choose your ingredients and measurement as you like.But keeping in mind the serving size if you are on a clean eating diet. dry fruits like dates -Khajur and raisins contain sugar. you can use little cashews and peanuts if you want

Boiled and cooked lentils like chick pea can also be added when serving.
